Julie Dumont-Suvanny , also Julie Suvanny , actually Julie Swieceny ( 1840 in Vienna - May 15, 1872 ) was an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Dumont-Suvanny, the daughter of an Imperial Lieutenancy Councilor, attended the conservatory in her hometown, where she made remarkable progress under Professor Mathilde Marchesi . After she had finally asked her father for permission to go to the theater (she had to give up her family name Swieceny ) and had completed her coloratura singing with Professor Francesco Lamperti in Milan , she took the stage for the first time in Krakow.

Her next engagement was in Brno from 1860 to 1862, then she was won over to the Kroll Theater in Berlin, where she caused a sensation. She then worked in Cologne, then belonged to the city theater in Riga for three years and came from there to Leipzig. Then we find her again at the city theater in Cologne and then in Breslau. Her last engagement was at the Friedrich Wilhelmstädtische stage in Berlin, where she enjoyed special admiration. She was equally popular with her colleagues and the audience. On May 15, this esteemed singer was torn from art forever - she died in childbed .

Dumont-Suvanny, who married Kapellmeister Carl Dumont (1834 – after 1888) in 1866 , possessed significant dramatic talent and a musical memory that aroused admiration. Her repertoire included all coloratura parts. Wherever she appeared as an artist, she won all of her listeners by storm. She offered her best performances in Mozart roles.
