Giovanni Battista Lamperti
Giovanni Battista Lamperti (born March 18, 1839 in Milan , † June 24, 1910 in Berlin ) was an Italian singing teacher.
Life
Lamperti was the son of Francesco Lamperti , who was also a singing teacher. At the age of nine he became a choirboy in the choir of the Milan Cathedral . He studied singing and piano at the Conservatorio di Milano and later worked there as a piano accompanist for his father's singing class. He taught in Milan, then for 20 years in Dresden and then in Berlin . Around 1890 one of his students in Dresden, William Earl Brown, recorded Lamperti's aphorisms. Marcella Sembrich , Ernestine Schumann-Heink , Paul Bulß , Emilie Tagliana and Roberto Stagno were among his other singing students .
