Friedrich Dorguth

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Andreas Ludwig Dorguth (born December 1, 1776 in Magdeburg ; † October 10, 1854 there ) was a German lawyer and philosopher .

Dorguth may have worked as a lawyer in the civil service since 1797. In 1817 he was already listed as a higher regional judge at the address Domplatz 8 . In 1823 the address was Kleine Domstrasse 2 . In 1836 he was appointed "Secret Justice and Higher Regional Court Council" at the Magdeburg Higher Regional Court . During his tenure, several members of the Frankfurt National Assembly were trained there. In 1847 he retired.

In addition to legal articles, Dorguth also published philosophical writings, such as his basic work "Critique of Idealism and Materials on the Basis of Apodictic Realrationalism", published in 1837, in which he critically dealt with Hegel's "ideal dialectics". Dorguth was in correspondence with Arthur Schopenhauer, who was close to him . In 1843 the book "The false root of ideal realism" appeared, in which he referred to Schopenhauer.

As a lawyer he campaigned (unsuccessfully during his lifetime) for the abolition of the death penalty and life imprisonment.
