Friedrich Fuchs (art historian)

Friedrich Fuchs (born March 26, 1952 - † November 16, 2016 ) was a German art historian , building researcher and restorer .

Life

Friedrich Fuchs completed an apprenticeship as a restorer and studied art history and classical archeology , which he completed with a dissertation on the west portal of the Regensburg Cathedral . Since the 1980s he was on the DFG project Der Regensburg Cathedral. Involved in an interdisciplinary model project to research a Gothic cathedral . Since 1991 he was employed at the art collections of the diocese of Regensburg , where he was involved in the inventory of church art in the diocese of Regensburg . In 1995 he was a founding member of the working group for the inventory and maintenance of church art. He was considered one of the most profound experts on Regensburg Cathedral, on which he published numerous publications.
