Friedrich Gebauer
Friedrich Gebauer (born November 28, 1830 in Gebhardshain ; † March 24, 1903 in Berlin ) was a German textile and machine manufacturer.
In the middle of the 19th century he joined the Charlottenburg bleaching shop on Am Salzufer street , becoming its managing director in 1862 and renaming the company to the bleaching shop and machine factory Fr. Gebauer . The company expanded very quickly through the development of new textile finishing processes and Gebauer also manufactured machines for the textile industry.
After Gebauer sold the company to the Berlin Central Bank for Industry and Commerce in 1872 , he bought back the stock corporation in 1882.
In 1900 the company relocated to a Spree area on today's Franklinstrasse in Berlin-Charlottenburg , whose listed building ensemble is known as Gebauer Höfe .
Friedrich Gebauer was the father of Julius Gebauer .
