Friedrich Gustav von Petersson (* 1766 ; † June 4, 1809 in Stralsund ) was a lieutenant in the artillery serving in the Swedish army .

Petersson was stationed twice in Stralsund during his service. In 1803 he resigned from the service, stayed in Stralsund, and worked as a math and drawing teacher. When Ferdinand von Schill arrived in Stralsund on May 25, 1809, during the Fifth Coalition War against France , in his failed attempt to spark a popular uprising, Petersson offered Schill his services. With Petersson's help, Schill managed to occupy Stralsund. The Schill troops were able to get behind a cannon- manned barricade of the French artillerymen and defeat the defenders through a back door at the armory of the Katharinenkirche that was left unguarded . Also in the repair of the fortifications, von Petersson Schill was able to give his support as a specialist.

During the battle for Stralsund on May 31, 1809, he was captured, but managed to escape. After the city was taken by French auxiliaries, he was captured again, sentenced to death and shot on June 4, 1809 in front of the Kniepertor . The memorial stone at Kniepertor was donated by Petersson's friend, the Landrentmeister and Royal Swedish Chamber Councilor Ehrenfried von Storch. The stone first stood in the garden of the Kampischer Hof , the Storch's former official residence. As a result, he often changed his location. In June 1932 it was moved to the garden of today's cultural history museum and in 1933, at the suggestion of the Stralsund Tourist Association, it was moved to its current location at Kniepertor.
