Friedrich Hartwig

Friedrich Heinrich Johannes Hartwig (* 1832 in Lübeck ; † April 20, 1907 there ) was a German businessman and member of the Lübeck citizenship.

Life

Friedrich Hartwig came from a family of craftsmen in Lübeck. His ancestors, most recently his grandfather who owned next to the castle gate establishment situated Marstall wrought against the imperial road .

After completing his school education and a commercial apprenticeship, at the age of 22, he took over the commercial business in Grosse Burgstrasse, which his late father had founded on April 1, 1828 . The company was a wholesale with hardware and haberdashery ; its main customers came from Denmark .

In 1879 he withdrew from business into private life and devoted himself to numerous honorary positions . Since 1878 he has been a member of the Society for the Promotion of Charitable Activities and the Geographical Society , civil deputy to the invoice revision deputation, the finance department and the administrative authority for municipal community institutions, as well as a member of the board of directors of the savings and loan fund , of the Holy Spirit Hospital and the merchant widow's fund. He belonged to the Lübeck citizenship from 1879 to 1903.

Hartwig was the head of his parish church, the Jakobikirche , and its deputy in the churchyard and burial authorities of the Free and Hanseatic City of Lübeck.
