Kaiserstrasse (Lübeck)
The Kaiser Street is a street of Lübeck .
location
The approximately 60 meter long Kaiserstraße in the northeastern part of the old town island, the Jakobi Quartier , connects the Große Burgstraße with the Wakenitz wall . It begins directly at the castle gate , runs down the slope and ends where the Wakenitz wall merges into the Ida Boy Ed garden .
history
Kaiserstraße 1308 with the Latin name Platea apud valvam (street near the flap) is mentioned for the first time in a document , possibly because of a small opening in the city wall , on the inside of which the street runs. In 1438 Platea Caesaris (Kaiserstraße) is occupied, in 1441 Apud turrim Caesaris (At the Kaiserturm), derived from the imperial tower of the city fortifications, which is located here and still exists today. In 1460 the name was Tegen den Kaysertorm (opposite the Kaiserturm), 1462 By deme Kaiserthorne , 1592 Kayserstrate . The current street name was officially established in 1852.
