Friedrich II. (Rietberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Count Friedrich II. Von Rietberg († December 25, 1322 ) was Count von Rietberg from 1302 to 1322 and son of Friedrich I. von Rietberg.

On January 20, 1302 the brothers Friedrich II. And Konrad II. Concluded an inheritance settlement and divided up the county. Konrad II received the castle loan from Rietberg, Friedrich II. The two shared the rest of the property. After the death of Conrad II, Friedrich II ruled together with his nephew Otto I. Friedrich II died on December 25, 1322. Since he only had daughters, the entire county fell to Otto I.

On the gravestone of the count in the Marienfeld monastery it was written:

Anno Dni. MCCCXXIII VIII. Cal. Jan. Obiit
Fridericus comes de Retberg.
Anima eius requi. In p. Amen

In German translation:

In the year of the Lord 1323, on December 25th, died
Friedrich Count von Rietberg.
Rest his soul in peace. Amen.

Friedrich II was married to Poncelina von Dortmund († after 1325). From this marriage two daughters were born.
