Friedrich Klausmeier

Friedrich Klausmeier (born January 8, 1915 ) is a German music teacher and musicologist who also devoted himself to music-sociological studies .

Life

Friedrich Klausmeier began studying school music and history, which he was initially unable to complete due to military and war service. In 1941 he finally passed his state examination in history and in 1947 the state examination in music education. Two years later this was followed by his doctorate on a topic of enlightenment. In 1950 Klausmeier was active in higher education.

In 1969 he took up employment at the University of Hanover . He devoted himself to numerous sociological works as well as psychoanalytical studies under musical aspects, including: "The desire to express oneself musically" (1978) and "The musical interpretation" (1980). From 1956 to 1958, Friedrich Klausmeier received a grant from the German Research Foundation for the first music-sociological youth study “Youth and Music in the Technical Age”. In addition, he was co-editor of the UNESCO song book “European songs in the original languages”.
