Friedrich Kraus (politician)

Friedrich Kraus (born October 26, 1903 in Barmen ; † February 21, 1969 in Wuppertal ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

After graduating from elementary school , Kraus completed an apprenticeship as a model carpenter at the art and trade school in Barmen. Since then he has worked in this profession. In the 1950s he was elected chairman of the works council in his company. At the same time he was also chairman of IG Metall in Wuppertal. He later worked as managing director of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Wuppertal.

His daughter is the future mayor of the city of Wuppertal Ursula Kraus .

Political party

Kraus had been a member of the SPD since 1922.

MP

From 1952 Kraus was a member of the city council of Wuppertal, where he led the SPD parliamentary group from 1956. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1965.
