Friedrich Lippmann (musicologist)

Friedrich Lippmann (born July 25, 1932 in Dessau ; † March 9, 2019 in Bonn ) was a German musicologist and editor .

career

Friedrich Lippmann studied musicology at the University of Kiel . From 1964 to 1996 Lippmann was head of the music history department of the German Historical Institute in Rome . He is considered an important opera researcher and has published standard works on Johann Adolf Hasse and Vincenzo Bellini , among others .
