Friedrich Neumann (born September 17, 1957 in Herzberg am Harz ) is a German music teacher and textbook author in Glienicke near Berlin.

Life

After studying to be a teacher (music and history), he worked as a teacher at a secondary school in Bergen (Celle district) until 1986. Between 1986 and 1992 he worked as a professional musician in various bands, theaters and as a studio musician. After completing a postgraduate course in educational science (graduated as a pedagogue) from 1990–92, he taught as a research assistant at the University of Lüneburg until 1996 (teaching degree in music and cultural studies). Since then he has been an independent music producer and specialist author for music education.

Act

Neumann's focus is on pop, rock and rap in music lessons as well as on elementary school music education.

Together with Frigga Schnelle, he is the founder and co-editor of the specialist magazine Musik in the elementary school as well as a permanent employee of Musik & Bildung and works as a speaker in adult education throughout the German-speaking area. He produced school radio programs for the Hessian and West German radio and was involved in the development of the specialist magazine Praxis des Musikunterrichts.

In his own company, Studio Neumann, he produces teaching aids and recordings for music lessons for German textbook publishers. He has been involved in music education association work for around 30 years - first with the AfS (Working Group for School Music), since 2015 with the BMU (Federal Association for Music Lessons).
