Bergwerk is a district of the market town of Mariasdorf in Burgenland , Oberwart district , Austria .
The first documents about this place date from the 14th century . From 1659 to 1854, the village was part of the Pinkafeld rule for most of the time .
It used to be a mining area with iron, copper and pebbles. Today the mine is a heaped village with around 140 inhabitants with a Protestant majority.
The grave of the economist, sociologist and philosopher Othmar Spann is in the local cemetery of Bergwerk.
