Friedrich Otto (computer scientist)

Friedrich Otto (born February 21, 1952 in Gadderbaum , today Bielefeld ) is a German computer scientist .

Otto attended the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium in Betzdorf / Sieg. He then studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Kaiserslautern , where he graduated in 1978 with a diploma in mathematics. In 1980 he was awarded a doctorate in computer science at the University of Kaiserslautern rer. nat. PhD.

A research stay from December 1982 to September 1983 at the Mathematics Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara with Ronald V. Book was funded by the German Research Foundation. From August 1984 to September 1986 he was a university assistant at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Kaiserslautern, where he completed his habilitation in 1985. From 1986 to 1988 he was Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the State University of New York, Albany . From 1989 to 2017 he was professor for theoretical computer science at the University of Kassel .
