Friedrich Stand

Friedrich Standfuss , also Friedrich Standfuss , (born November 17, 1935 in Erfurt ; † July 5, 2017 ) was a German civil engineer.

Life

Standfuß first studied mathematics and physics in Mainz and Göttingen, then from 1957 civil engineering at the TH Hannover with a diploma in 1961 (specialization in structural engineering). From 1962 to 1965 he completed his legal traineeship and from 1965 to 1976 he was in the Lower Saxony State Administration Office, Road Construction Department. Most recently he was Ministerialrat and advisor for bridge construction and civil engineering in the road construction department of the Federal Ministry of Transport (and thus responsible for the motorway bridges).

He wrote books about historical stone bridges in Germany and modern road bridges in Germany.

Standfuß also promoted composite steel construction for bridges.
