Friedrichshof (formerly Zurndorfer Haidhof ) is a hamlet and former estate in the extreme southwest of the market town of Zurndorf in the Neusiedl am See district in Burgenland .

history

The complex, formerly called Haidhof , was named after Friedrich von Österreich-Teschen , after he acquired the farm in 1890 and expanded it into a model agricultural estate. In 1934 the farm was given up.

In 1972, the community of Aktionanalytische Organization and Otto Muehl acquired the area with some now dilapidated buildings and established an alternative model of society and life. Old buildings were renovated and large-scale new ones with the appropriate infrastructure were created. The landscape was reforested and garden architecture redesigned.

In 1990 the municipality dissolved. The property was brought into a cooperative. Many of the former members left the Friedrichshof. Numerous new residents settled there. In 2001 a seminar hotel, a country inn and a museum were opened.
