As Friedrichslust a settlement with three houses is in the hall of the village Zehma referred. Zehma belongs to the unified municipality Nobitz in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

location

The settlement is located about one kilometer east of Saara on the Red Mountain - a prominent hill above the Pleiße and is located on today's federal highway 93 . The Gößnitz - Altenburg railway line also passes in the immediate vicinity .

history

In the corridor on the Zwickauer Chaussee , verifiably calcareous rock has been mined and smelted since the 17th century to be sold as building material. The now no longer existing lime works can be documented for the year 1682, at that time several kilns belonged to a lime works, probably owned by a professional lime burner.

On April 17, 1736, the ducal chamber of Altenburg purchased an adjacent arable land from a farmer Paul Etzold from Zehma for 160 guilders in order to open a limestone quarry there himself through a leaseholder. Since a strip of forest spread out in the immediate vicinity and the place offered a beautiful view of the Pleißenaue, the then Duke Friedrich von Sachsen-Altenburg often stayed at this place. A hunting lodge was built on the order of the duke and was given the prophetic name “Die Friedrichslust” when it was inaugurated. The ducal hunting lodge was later sold and used as a guest house and rest house on Zwickauer Chaussee . With the construction of the railway line (presumably) the quarry ended and the area overgrown. With the rise of the Zehma parish into the Saara unified parish , Friedrichslust became part of this parish on January 1, 1996, until it came to Nobitz on December 31, 2012.

Area natural monument "Red Mountain" Zehma

As a result of the lime mining, a special lime-loving flora and fauna settled on the slopes and on the spoil heaps, which is why part of the wasteland area has been placed under nature protection as a natural monument "Red Mountain (Zehma)".

“The aim of the protection and care measures is to maintain a semi-arid grass rich in structures and species, which is partially interspersed with fruit trees. The area should provide a place of retreat for warmth-loving, weakly competitive species that only occur under the prevailing conditions in our cultural landscape. "
