Tiomkin and Webster wrote the song Friendly Persuasion (Thee I Love) (the full title) for the film Alluring Temptation ( Friendly Persuasion , 1956, directed by William Wyler ), with Gary Cooper in the lead role. The song received an Oscar nomination for Best Song in 1957 .
The first two lines of the song are: Thee I love, more than the meadow so green and still / More than the mulberries on the hill .
