Friolzheimer giant

The Geissberg is a mountain in the Heckengäu in Baden-Württemberg .

The mountain has a height of 509  m above sea level. NN . From a topographical point of view, the greater part of the elevation belongs to the Friolzheim community . Also on the resort district Mönsheim the Geissberg rises.

Hohengeissberg Castle

Hohengeissberg Castle, also called Obermönsheim Castle, is located on the extreme northern edge of the Geissberg and, together with the residential buildings on Schloßfeld, belongs to the municipality of Mönsheim. The castle is privately owned and is still inhabited today by the Barons von Gaisberg . The von Gaisberg family manages a large part of the surrounding forest as the Obermönsheim forest administration.

Geissberg district

The Friolzheimer district of the same name is located in the Friolzheimer district. The district is separated from the rest of the municipality by the 8 federal motorway . The first residential building was the Villa Hauser, built in the early 1930s in the style of a hunting lodge. In the 1970s, the area was developed as a country house area with a panoramic view of the Betzenbuckel . Within a short time, the Geissberg developed into an upscale district, and mainly has villa developments.

The TC Friolzheim's tennis courts are located on the Geissberg.

Transmission tower

On the mountain is the Friolzheimer Giant , a 47 meter high radio tower formerly used by the military for the US armed forces, which dominates the picture. The tower is today u. a. used for cellular communications.
