The Frischebach , also known as the Wambach in its upper course , is a left tributary of the Ems in Rheine . The brook rises south of the town center of Neuenkirchen and flows in an easterly direction through Sutrum-Harum and through the Rhine districts of Catenhorn and Hauenhorst , where it flows into the Ems.
In 2013, 150 meters in the Neuenkirchen area were redesigned to be “close to nature”. The reason for this was the implementation of the Water Framework Directive . The stream bed was widened, dead wood was brought in and steep walls were built.
