Fritsche Closener

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fritsche Closener or Klosener (* around 1315 in Strasbourg ; † between 1390 and 1396 there) was a chronicler and lexicographer .

Life

Fritsche Closener probably came from a Strasbourg patrician family . Only the names of his parents, Greda and Sifrid, who were citizens of Strasbourg, can be documented. In autumn 1349 and spring 1350 Fritsche was mentioned as chaplain of the Marien Altar in the Strasbourg cathedral . On July 14, 1350, this benefice went to another priest. Instead, Closener will have received a benefice in the newly built Katharinenkapelle in Münster. From 1358 he can be proven as the first beneficiary at the main altar of this chapel. Since 1366 he is referred to as the owner of a benefice at the choir of the cathedral. He died on October 26th between 1390 and 1396.
