Fritz Aebersold
Fritz Aebersold (* 1914 ; † 2001 ) was a Swiss artist of the brut / Outsider Art.
life and work
Fritz Aebersold grew up in Sihlfeld in Zurich . He first did an apprenticeship as a hairdresser , then at the age of 29 as a mechanic . Then he worked as a fitter for the company "Oil Therm".
Only when he reached retirement age did he turn to painting. He worked from reproductions of works of art, from nature and from his own photographs, but also from his imagination. After the death of his wife, who was also painting, Hélène Aebersold-Tissot, he entered the hospital in Bülach , where he spent the last years of his life. Before that, he had to stop painting because of an eye problem.
A group of works by Aebersold is in the museum in the warehouse in St. Gallen.
