Fritz Blumert (born August 9, 1928 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper who was active for the BSG Gera-Süd in the East German soccer zone league in 1949/50 .

Athletic career

In the 1948/49 season, a football team from the Thuringian city ​​of Gera appeared for the first time in national football in the Soviet occupation zone with the SG Gera-Pforten . Renamed to SG Gera-Süd, it finished fifth in Season 1 of the Thuringia regional class after completing the point games. In the national cup, which was held at the same time, Gera won the final against Carl Zeiss Jena 1-0. In both competitions, the 20-year-old Fritz Blumert was in the goal of Gera.

As the state cup winner, Gera-Süd had qualified for the competition for the East German FDGB Cup , which was held for the first time in 1949 . With Blumert in goal, the team made it to the final, but lost to Waggonbau Dessau with 0: 1. As a cup finalist, Gera-Süd was eligible to start the first season of the newly introduced East German Zone League (later DS-Oberliga, GDR-Oberliga ). The league line-up for 1949/50 again included Fritz Blumert, who was in goal in all of Gera's 26 point games.

In 1950/51 Blumert was no longer part of the Gera squad and did not appear in higher-class football in the period that followed.
