Fritz Fleege-Althoff
Albrecht Ernst Fritz Heinrich Fleege-Althoff (born October 17, 1886 in Schlangen , † March 27, 1945 in a prison camp in East Prussia ) was a German economist.
Life
Born the son of a migrant worker from Lippe, Fritz Fleege-Althoff attended the village school in Schlangen and the teachers' seminar in Detmold and became a primary school teacher in Haustenbeck . He then studied political science at the University of Leipzig and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1912 he became a member of the Corps Hermunduria Leipzig, later also of the Corps Hansea Mannheim. In 1914 he graduated from the Cologne Commercial College as a commercial teacher. He took part in the First World War from 1916 to 1918 and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. In 1921 he was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD. Subsequently, in addition to working as a qualified commercial teacher in Hamm, he was a lecturer in business administration at the Fürst Leopold Academy for Administrative Sciences in Detmold. In 1926 he switched to the Mannheim Commercial College as a research assistant, where he completed his habilitation and from 1929 to 1934 he was a private lecturer. In 1934 he became an associate professor for business administration at the University of Heidelberg with a teaching position at the University of Bonn. From 1937 until his death he taught business administration at the Königsberg Commercial College, initially as a substitute professor and from 1938 as a full professor.
Fleege-Althoff taught general business administration, double bookkeeping and financial mathematics. His book “Die Lippe Wanderarbeiter” is considered a standard work in Lippe's native literature. The "Fleege-Althoff-Straße" was named in his honor in Schlangen.
