Fritz Freyschlag

Friedrich Freyschlag (born October 21, 1931 in Linz ; † October 26, 2004 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and president of the Upper Austria Chamber of Labor .

Life

Fritz Freyschlag graduated from the commercial vocational school in Linz. In 1952 he joined the trade union federation as a consumer worker and became its youth secretary. In 1964 he became state secretary of the private employees' union in the Upper Austria regional group. In 1963 he became vice-president of the Chamber of Labor for Upper Austria. From 1973 he was also a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament and until 1987 was a club chairman who helped determine the politics of the SPÖ.

As Hubert Wipplinger's predecessor , he was President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor from 1982 to 1999. After his retirement he became involved in the interests of workers in the European Union in Brussels.

Freyschlag was among other things the bearer of the Ring of Honor of the City of Linz (awarded in 1985), the Badge of Honor of the Association of Austrian Adult Education Centers and Honorary Senator of the Johannes Kepler University Linz .

Since 2003, the annual award of the "Association for Solidarity and Social Partnership" has been named after Freyschlag.

Fritz Freyschlag succumbed to cancer.
