Hubert Wipplinger

Hubert Wipplinger (born August 6, 1941 in Taufkirchen an der Pram , Schärding district; † October 20, 2004 ) was a President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor and a social democrat .

After an apprenticeship as a fitter, Wipplinger worked in the private sector until 1967. He had already been active in the union since his apprenticeship in 1964 and became the regional youth chairman of the Bau-Holz trade union and from 1967 the secretary of this union as well as the regional chairman of the youth union and local council in Diersbach near Schärding . From 1975 Wipplinger was the state secretary of his union, from 1989 to 2003 he was ÖGB state chairman and from 1979 to 1991 local council in Linz .

Wipplinger was Fritz Freyschlag's successor from August 1, 1999 to October 20, 2003, President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor . His successor was Johann Kalliauer . His main concerns were the fight against unemployment and educational work for the chamber members.

He was also the deputy federal chairman of the Bau-Holz trade union, vice-president of the federal chamber of labor and a functionary in the regional health insurance fund and in the professional development institute .

He has received numerous awards. Among other things, he received the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria , the Golden Decoration of Honor of the State of Upper Austria , the dignity of Honorary Senator of the Johannes Kepler University Linz and the Viktor Adler Plaque .
