Fritz Heinrich Bornig (born July 9, 1883 in Girlachsdorf , Reichenbach district, Lower Silesia , † April 4, 1952 in Dresden - Klotzsche ) was a German senior engineer and known for the invention, development and construction of the first electrically heated sauna .

Life

On April 23, 1946, the test facility for an electrically heated sauna was put into operation in the building of the Klotzsche Rheumatism Institute, founded in 1947 .

The new thing about the sauna was the sauna heater, which was heated electrically rather than with wood, as in the Finnish sauna. Heated, oxygen-containing fresh air was supplied to the sauna room. The use of this new type of sauna was a success; up to 90 people used this facility per day. After successful testing, a patent application was made for this invention .
