Fritz Hochmair
Fritz Hochmair (born June 21, 1941 in Wels ) is an Austrian politician and functionary.
Life
After completing compulsory school, he did an apprenticeship as a machinist. He then worked in crane operations at VOEST-Alpine and as a train driver for ÖBB .
Career
From 1973 he was Upper Austrian State Secretary of the Metal-Mining-Energy Union and Chamber Council of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce . In 1976 he moved to the Upper Austrian Landtag as a member of the SPÖ and in 1979 finally to the National Council . He remained a member of the National Council until 1988, after which he was drawn back into state politics: in 1988 he was regional councilor and from 1993 to 2000 deputy governor. In 1997 Fritz Hochmair became President of the ASKÖ Upper Austria. He still holds this position today.

- 1985: Great Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria
- 1997: Honorary citizen of Perwang am Grabensee
- 1999: Ring of Honor of the City of Linz
