Fritz Judtmann , actually: Friedrich Judtmann , (born June 15, 1899 in Vienna ; † December 10, 1968 there ) was an Austrian architect and set designer.

Life

After completing his military service during the First World War, Judtmann attended the construction school of the Technical University in Vienna from 1918 to 1922 . There he was then from 1922 to 1928 assistant at the chair for building theory with Leopold Simony . At the same time he ran an architecture office together with Egon Riss from 1924 to 1934. After its closure due to the generally poor economic situation, Judtmann turned to set design and had been working at the Vienna Burgtheater since 1934 . From 1945 he was head of equipment there. From 1946 to 1948 he taught costume and traditional costume studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . He is buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 1, Row 2, No. 72).

Fritz Judtmann was a relative of the sheep and bee scientist Joseph Michael Judtmann Freiherrn von Ehrenfels (1767–1843).
