Fritz Matzies

Fritz Matzies (born November 3, 1881 in Buddern ; † 1957 ) was a member of the state parliament in Prussia and Memelland ( SPD or Social Democratic Party of the Memel region ).

Fritz Matzies learned to be a carpenter after finishing elementary school . He worked as a woodworker and until 1911 as a carpenter. In 1909 he became chairman of the branch of the woodworkers' association and the trade union cartel in Konitz and 1910–1911 in Allenstein . After he had the central trade union school in Berlin in 1911, he worked full-time as an employee of the woodworkers' association in Memel from April 1911 to 1920 . Between 1915 and 1918 he did military service .

In 1914 he was chairman of the SPD in Memel. For the SPD of East Prussia , he was a member of the Prussian state assembly . After the separation of the Memel region , he was chairman of the Social Democratic Party of the Memel region from 1927 . He was the head of the city council in Memel . From 1920 to 1922 he was regional director of the Memel area, from 1923 to 1927 full-time chairman of the state insurance company for the Memel area. From 1919 to 1920 he was chairman and in 1927 a member of the board of the trade union cartel for the Memel region. In 1919 he was a board member of the local health insurance fund in Memel and an assessor at the insurance office.
