from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fritz Rapp (born August 31, 1872 in Greifenberg / Württemberg ; † after 1927 ) was a German opera singer ( bass ), director and vocal teacher .

Life

Rapp, whose father was also a singer, was trained by Rossi in Milan and began his career in Elbing in 1894 , where he appeared for the first time as "Plumkett" in the opera Martha . In the same role he made his debut in 1895 with his engagement in Würzburg, came to Basel in 1896 (inaugural role: "Daland"), where he stayed for four years, in 1900 to Königsberg (inaugural role: "Marcel" in Huguenots ) and in 1902 to Leipzig (inaugural role: " Landgraf ”in Tannhäuser ).

In January 1903 he was invited to a guest performance with the aim of getting an engagement at the Vienna Court Opera. Why this did not come about is unclear, but in any case he stayed in Leipzig until 1917.

From 1917 to 1927 he was senior director and singer at the Altenburg court theater (Thuringia). Then Rapp worked as a singing teacher in Mainz.

In 1906 he made guest appearances at the Frankfurt Opera House, in 1907 at the Weimar Court Theater, from 1908 also frequently at the Berlin Court Opera and from 1910 often in Dresden.

The time and place of death are unknown.
