Life

Umland studied chemistry from 1942 to 1945 and 1949/1950 at the TH Hannover and received his doctorate in 1953 under Werner Fischer . In 1963 he was appointed to the chair for “Inorganic-Analytical Chemistry” at the Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität in Münster.

The main areas of work in the surrounding area included inorganic trace analysis using optical and electrochemical methods as well as the formation and distribution of chelates, e.g. B. the boron chelates and borometal complexes. In 1981 he was made an honorary member of the Japanese Society for Analytical Chemistry .
