Miss Mayer's Hinterhausjazzer is a German jazz band .

history

The unmarried Hedwig Mayer (* 1902) lived in Herdern (Freiburg im Breisgau) and rented her rear building to students. In 1968 the musician Michael Rox moved in there. From 1971, jazz enthusiastic students met at Rox, who named his band in 1974 after the landlady.

Ms. Mayer's Hinterhausjazzer have already performed around 2000 in four continents. They appeared on TV or radio more than 100 times. You are an honorary citizen of New Orleans .

The regular cast includes Michael Rox (band leader and piano), Hermann Schloz (drums), Hermann Bruderhofer (banjo), Jerry Gabriel (clarinet, saxophone), Philipp Reiss (bass) and Hans Schweizer (trombone, vocals). Andy Lawrence (trumpet, cornet, vocals), who was a member of the band from 1985 to 1993 and has been again since 2008, can be heard on some of the ten CDs that the Hinterhausjazzer have released so far .
