Fronfests in Mindelheim, 1834

The former Fronfeste in Imhofgasse 3 in the town of Mindelheim in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ) was built in 1834 as a two-story building and is a listed building.

description

The building is integrated into the city wall and therefore only has a city-side facade . This is kept in simple quattrocentesque shapes in the style of fortress buildings. The building consists of three wings arranged radially around the prison tower , the roofs of which are hipped on the outside. A three-sided polygonal porch can be found at the corner facing the city. A round-arched entrance framed by sandstone rustics is embedded in its broad central axis . There is an arched window above the entrance. The remaining windows in an irregular arrangement are rectangular and partly modern. Two small former cell windows have been preserved in the north wing. These are chamfered and have beveled corners in the upper area. Similar windows, surrounded by sandstone walls, can still be found on the narrow western side. The building has an eaves cornice on stepped brick consoles. The shorter south-east wing protruding into the moat closes off polygonally on three sides. The interior of the building is renewed.

Todays use

In 2000, the Frundsberg Festring and its office moved into the renovated premises of the Fronfeste. The association organizes the Frundsbergfest in Mindelheim , which takes place every three years .
