history

Due to brisk construction activity on Froschberg, the desire for a church was already expressed in the interwar period. In 1934 an emergency church was built at Kudlichstrasse 21, which existed until Austria was annexed in 1938. In 1941 the chaplaincy St. Konrad was set up in order to be able to provide pastoral care to the growing population on the Froschberg. In 1947 the church bought the property on the Froschbergkrone, on which the church is located today, from the city of Linz and built the St. Konrad's Chapel there in 1948 according to plans by Hans Feichtlbauer (today the parish home). A church building was not possible immediately after the war for financial reasons.

The current church was built from 1959 to 1961 according to plans by cathedral builders Gottfried Nobl and Othmar Kainz and consecrated in 1961. The altarpiece is by Franz Nagel , the bronze church portals and the statue of the church saint are by Peter Dimmel . Rudolf Kolbitsch designed the altarpiece for the weekday chapel and the Golgotha glass window above the main entrance. The glass objects altar, ambo and the baptismal font were designed in 2005 by Maria Moser , as is a glass window on the south corner on the subject of the resurrection. In the church there is also a Madonna and Child, which is attributed to Thomas Schwanthaler . The organ comes from the Walcker-Mayer company .
