Fryxell is a small impact crater that lies in the middle of the western inner ring of the Montes Rook on the far side of the moon. Due to its peripheral location, the libration occasionally makes it visible from earth , but even under optimal observation conditions it can only be viewed as a side view in the middle of a rugged mountain range.

The crater is essentially circular, but appears slightly polygonal. Its bowl-shaped shape with a darker crater floor shows hardly any abnormalities. Since the inner walls of the crater have a higher albedo than the surrounding area, they appear relatively bright.

Marriage Fryxell in 1985 by the International Astronomical Union was assigned (IAU) has its own name, it was a satellite crater Golitsyn named Golitsyn B known.
