The Montes Rook ( Rook Mountains , named after the English astronomer Lawrence Rook (1622–1666)) are a ring-shaped mountain system on the moon . With a length of about 900 km, it completely encloses the Mare Orientale and other basalt plains . Two of the frozen lava lakes , Lacus Autumni and Lacus Veris , lie on the border with the Montes Cordillera .
