Football Association for the Duchy of Braunschweig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The football association for the Duchy of Braunschweig (then spelling; FfdHB) was a local football association for the city of Braunschweig and the surrounding area. The FfdHB was founded on May 1st, 1904 by the following five clubs: FuCC Eintracht 1895 Braunschweig , FC Viktoria 1900 Braunschweig, FC Einigkeit Braunschweig , FC Fortuna 1901 Wolfenbüttel and FV 1902 Helmstedt. Johannes Runge (Eintracht) became the first chairman .

The first championship of the FfdHB was carried out in the 1904/05 season in two divisions. First class champion was FuCC Eintracht 1895 Braunschweig, which won all of its games. Despite the few participants in the 1st class championship games and the very low level of play, Eintracht Braunschweig managed to develop into a top North German team that could take on the Hamburg clubs and Holstein Kiel .

The presumption, often assumed in books, that the local associations had expired on the spot with the formation of the regional association, often did not correspond to the facts. However, due to the incomplete reports from the associations, the exact dates are difficult to understand. The North German Football Association , which was founded on April 15, 1905, issued notices about its Braunschweig district, while the Football Association published its official results for the Duchy of Braunschweig.

The football association for the Duchy of Braunschweig went in 1907 in the North German Football Association as its VI. District on.
