The Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. was founded by the two companies Fuji Photo Film and Rank Xerox in 1962 as a 50:50 partnership to give Rank Xerox easier access to the market in Japan and the Pacific region with its photocopiers. Both companies also received access to patents, technologies and products from the other partner.

Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. is now a joint venture between Fuji Photo Film Co. (75%) and Xerox (25%). It has sales of around eight billion US dollars and employs around 30,000 people in the Asia-Pacific region, including over 20,000 employees in Japan.

Originally only planned as a marketer of Rank Xerox products in Asia, Fuji Xerox later began to develop its own copiers. Fuji Xerox is responsible for many technical innovations (for example the world's first multifunction printer, the "Xero-Drucker 100", marketed from 1987) and is also the manufacturer of many devices that are sold by Xerox.

Since 1991 Fuji Xerox has been calling itself "The Document Company", and in 1995 the term was integrated into the company logo.

Xerox sold its China division to Fuji Xerox on December 20, 2000 for $ 550 million. As part of the agreement, all production, sales and service areas in China and Hong Kong have been transferred to Fuji Xerox.

In the digital printing business area ( Print On Demand ), Fujifilm and Xerox have had close ties since Fuji Xerox was founded as a joint venture in 1962. Fuji Xerox has manufactured the DocuColor line of digital printing systems for Xerox since 1962 . In 2001 Fuji Xerox was integrated into the Fujifilm Group and today, together with the Fujifilm Corporation, belongs to the Fujifilm Holding , based in Tokyo, Japan.
