The city of Fukang ( Chinese  阜康 市 , Pinyin Fùkāng Shì ; Uighur فۇكاڭ شەھىرى, Fukang Xəⱨiri ) is an independent city in the Changji Hui Autonomous District in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​8,844.85 and has 160,000 inhabitants (2004). It is the district capital of Changji .
