Manas (Changji)

The Manas District ( Chinese  玛纳斯县 , Pinyin Mǎnàsī Xiàn ; Uighur ماناس ناھىيىسى Manas Naⱨiyisi ) is a district of the Changji Hui Autonomous District in the north-central part of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regionin the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​9,154.48 km² and has 170,000 inhabitants (2004). Its main town is the large community of Manas (玛纳斯 镇).
