Qitai ( Chinese  奇台縣  /  奇台县 , Pinyin Qítái Xiàn , Uighur گۇچۇڭ ناھىيىسى, Guqung Naⱨiyisi ) is a district of the Changji Hui Autonomous District in the northwest of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China .

The district is located in the south of Djungary and north of the Bogda Shan Mountains . It has an area of ​​16,709.36 km² and has 230,000 inhabitants (end of 2008).

About 30 km west of the main town Qitai is the neighboring town of Jimsar .

Administrative structure

At the community level, Qitai consists of nine large communities , three communities , three nationality communities , a state farm and a state pasture. These are:

Qitai community (奇 台 镇), capital, seat of the district government;
