The Fukuoka Convention Center is a building complex consisting of three structures in Fukuoka , Japan .

Buildings and use

The first building that belongs to the complex is the Fukuoka Kokusai Center . It opened in 1981 and has a capacity of approximately 5,000 spectators. Hon Basho competitions are held here regularly in November , which enjoy high visitor numbers. The Marine Fair Fukuoka has replaced the International Center Hall , which existed from 1981 to 1994 , since 1995 and, like the building before, can accommodate around 15,000 visitors. World stars such as Eric Clapton (1991, 1993 ) and George Harrison (1991) as well as local artists such as Misia , Kumi Kōda and Ayumi Hamasaki have performed in the arena . In 2003 the Fukuoka International Congress Center completed the building complex. The International Political Science Association held its World Congress here in 2006.
