The Furggi ( [ˈfʊrki] ) is the highest alp in Adelboden . It lies at 1880–2250 m. ü. M. on a terrace east of the Albristhorn above Adelboden-Stiegelschwand.

Development

There is no road to the Furggi. From Stiegelschwand, a steep mule track leads up the southern flank, the hiking time is one and a half hours, the cattle drive takes three hours. The downhill drive on the steep path requires an accompanying person for two animals.

The alp can also be reached from the west via a mountain path. A mountain path leads over the Furggeli into the Färmeltal , a side valley of the Simmental . The Gsürweg, an alpine path from the Schwandfeldspitze along the flank of the Gsür, also ends at Furggi .

There has been a goods transport elevator since 1938. Energy is supplied by a petrol engine and solar cells, and the alp has its own spring with a well for the water supply.

Alpine farm

The alp is privately owned. The alp includes 38 hectares of pasture land and 27 hectares of wild hay. It is bumped for about 77 days from late June to early September.

The alpine hut at 2091  m above sea level. M. was built in 1863 and thoroughly renovated in 1975. It is a block building with a slate roof, the stables in the basement are made of quarry stone walls.

The cheese is handcrafted, the equipment consists of two cheese kettles equipped with pulley blocks over a fire pit and a traditional black press and a cheese cellar for 70 loaves. Berner Alpkäse / Hobelkäse in loaves of 8 to 16 kg, Alpmutschli and goat cheese are produced and sold mainly to regular private customers and passers-by.
