Fushimi (Tennō)

Emperor Fushimi ( Japanese 伏 見 天皇 , Fushimi-tennō ; * May 10, 1265 ; † October 8, 1317 ) was the 92nd Tennō of Japan (November 27, 1287-30 August 1298).

Fushimi ruled from November 27, 1287 to August 30, 1298. The military power lay with the shogunate and the Hōjō family , who decided behind the scenes on the imperial hierarchy. His successor, Emperor Go-Fushimi, was one of his sons. His proper name was Hirohito ( 熈 仁 ).

It comes from the line Jimyōin-tō ( 持 明 院 統 ), which fought for the throne with the other line Daikakuji-tō ( 大 覚 寺 統 ).
