Future Aerospace Network

Future Aerospace Network is a network of the aerospace industry in the Stuttgart region and brings together regional players from business, science and politics.

Purpose of the network

The network focuses on six topics:

  • Plenary to network the actors inside / outside the aviation and space industry
  • Innovation to promote and use innovation potential
  • Recruiting to support the topic of skills shortages
  • Marketing to position the industry
  • Fundraising for advice on funding
  • Internationalization to support SMEs in opening up foreign markets

The objective of the project is to position the Stuttgart region and the state of Baden-Württemberg as aerospace locations and to increase the competitiveness of the aerospace industry. The actors are to be networked with one another and with other industries through cluster management. The aim is to identify market potential and the associated new products and business models through the exchange of ideas and information.

Training and further education, the implementation of cross-sector user workshops and the mediation of innovation partnerships as well as the provision of a database (LuRa-Wiki) should enable SMEs in particular to react to the requirements of the large system providers. The need for skilled workers is addressed by making children and young people aware of and interested in the subject of aerospace and related fields with the help of the DLR School Lab and targeted information events at universities.

The network is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs and funds from the European Fund for Regional Competitiveness and Employment ( ERDF ).

Awards

In 2008, the Future Aerospace Network was a prizewinner at the regional cluster competition of the state of Baden-Württemberg and was awarded by Economics Minister Ernst Pfister .
