Gábor Kerekes

Gábor Kerekes (born August 2, 1945 in Oberhart , Germany ; † April 16, 2014 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian photographer and photo reporter .

Life

Kerekes graduated from Kölcsey High School in 1964 . Then he attended the photography school. From 1973 to 1974 he worked as an assistant at the Budapest Photographers' Cooperative, then until 1979 as a photographer at the Research Institute of the Iron Industry. In 1977 his first solo exhibition of his works took place in a gallery in the Ferencváros district of Budapest. From 1985 to 1990 he worked as a photo reporter for Képes 7 , from 1990 for Képes Európa as well as freelance. In the 1990s he devoted himself increasingly to historical photography techniques such as the pinhole camera and built a 30 cm by 40 cm camera for himself during his studies with which he worked. In addition, he also dealt with the Polaroid technology.

Exhibitions

His works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions in various European countries and the USA.
