Gábor Németh (Author)
Gábor Németh (born November 23, 1956 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian writer.
Life
Gábor Németh studied Hungarian and history at the Budapesti Tanárképző Főiskola (Budapest University of Education) from 1975 to 1979 . Németh worked for various magazines and between 1994 and 2007 was the cultural editor of Magyar Rádió . He teaches at the Budapest Academy of Film and Theater and also writes screenplays and plays. He has published short stories, novels and essays.
Németh, who also publishes under the pseudonym Gabriely György, sees himself as a Hungarian representative of "Posztmagyar", a variant of postmodernism : to be a writer - is like domesticated disorder (Gábor Németh: Angyal és bábu ).
Németh has received various Hungarian cultural awards, including: Móricz Zsigmond-ösztöndíj (1988), at the Hungarian Film Festival (1998), József Attila-díj (2004), Szépírók Díj (2004), Márai Sándor-díj (2005) and the Déry Tibor -díj (2006).
As a man of letters and a Jew, Németh sees himself increasingly marginalized in the Hungarian society of the Viktor Orbán government and in 2013 described the historical consciousness in Hungary as amnesistan .
