The Gäuplatten in the Main Triangle (also Gäuflächen in the Main Triangle ) are a flat, undulating, fertile and intensely agricultural plateau in Lower Franconia , which is framed in the southwest, south and east by the incision of the Main Valley. In the vicinity of the Main Valley, the relief of the Gäuplatten is somewhat more intense due to the incised tributaries. According to the natural structure of Germany, the landscape forms the main unit 134 within the Mainfränkische Platten (main unit group 13 [= D56 according to BfN]). Approximately northwest of the Würzburg - Schweinfurt line , the Wern-Lauer-Platten , which is more rich in relics and partly wooded, is the second main natural spatial unit (135) in the Main Triangle. Together with the Ochsenfurt Gau and Gollachgau south of the Main (main unit 130), the Gäuplatten in the Maindreieck form the arable farming region of the Franconian Gäu landscapes.
